MINUTES

To resolve that the minutes from the meeting of Full Council on the 28th June 2021 are a true and accurate record of those meetings, and authorise the Chairman to sign them

Council to receive the minutes from the meeting of the Personnel Committee held on the 22nd June 2021 (previously signed as a correct record and circulated to Councillors).

River Users’ Group to give an update

ST. JOHN’S SCHOOL WISH TO ADOPT TELEPHONE BOX

Councillor Lester to give an update following minute 772(ii) as set out below

ADOPTED RED TELEPHONE BOXES

i) Request from the museum to renovate the telephone box in St Georges Road and prepare for use as a pop-up museum and future library

Councillors considered the request and thanked the museum and agreed to support it. It was Proposed by Councillor McGregor, Seconded by Councillor Beatty and

RESOLVED THAT: Wallingford Town Council thank the museum and agree to the museumrenovating the telephone box in St Georges Road and preparing it for use as a pop-up museum and future library.

To consider the future use and renovation of the telephone box in St Johns Road

The Town Clerk suggested that a notice on Town Council’s Facebook page stating that there is a Red Telephone Box in St John’s Road that needs renovating and is anyone interested, might help. Councillor Lester suggested that St John’s School might be interested in the project and could use it as a lending library for the children to swap books.

The Town Council’s Officer stated that the special paint for the renovation projects had been ordered.

The remaining telephone boxes at the bridge and the Town Hall, thought to be Grade II listed, were discussed. Councillor Holder offered to work with the Town Clerk to see if these boxes  were likely to be decommissioned.

It was Proposed by Councillor Lester, Seconded by Councillor Holder and

RESOLVED THAT: Wallingford Town Council will contact St John’s School to see if they are interested in renovating the Red Telephone Box in St John’s Road and using it for a sharing library or another suitable project

POTENTIAL TWINNING WITH RENAC, BRITTANY

Council to consider twinning with the town of Renac, Brittany following email dated  22/04/2021 (previously circulated to Councillors)

STRATEGIC PLAN

To consider formulating a Strategic Plan and to agree a date for an informal meeting with a facilitator to aid discussion

VIRTUAL ‘PAY AND DISPLAY’ PARKING TICKETS

Council to recommend the use of this method of parking payment; information from SODC previously circulated

APPOINTMENT OF THE MAYOR’S CADET

Lance Corporal Izzie Ambler of the Wallingford Rifles has been appointed Mayor’s Cadet for the 2021 – 2022 Municipal Year

WALLINGFORD RAILWAY

To consider how this Council may support Wallingford Railway with its future events for the benefit of the whole town
