78/22 MEETING PROTOCOL
The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting and advised those present of the protocols that would be followed.
The meeting had been called at the request of Councillor Cattermole.
79/22 APOLOGIES
Apologies were received from Councillor McGregor.
Councillors Newcombe and Sinkinson did not attend.
80/22 DECLARATIONS OF INTERESTS
No interests were declared.
81/22 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
No members of the public chose to speak at the meeting.
82/22 JUBILEE FLOTILLA AND FIREWORKS EVENT
The Council reviewed the decision to postpone the Flotilla and Fireworks event that had been planned as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of 2nd to 5th June 2022.
The Chairman gave all Members the opportunity to speak.
Councillor Cattermole made clear that he had wanted the meeting to be held the previous week.
Different views were expressed by some Members on the decision itself, the way the decision had been taken and the external communication of the decision.
The Chairman committed to circulating the Minute of the Council that had delegated responsibility to the Working Party and the expert advice that the Council had received.
The consensus of the meeting was that the Council needed to learn any lessons from the episode and to move forward together.
Action: The Mayor to circulate the previous decision of the Council to delegate responsibility to the Working Party and the expert advice that the Council had received
