Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

A series of events with guidance on how to reduce waste.

From Monday 30 Jan – Saturday 4 Feb we’re planning a programme of events around reducing, reusing & recycling. From talks from the South & Vale waste team and a drop-in session with SOHA Housing, to guidance on home composting and a ‘Nearly New’ sale, there’ll be a variety of ways to get involved over the week.

11am – 2pm: ‘Getting Oxfordshire Online‘ Technology donation point in the Town Hall 7pm:

1pm: Guidance from the Oxford Garden Project on how to compost at home and grow food in small containers. Talk in the Town Hall. 11am – 1pm: Find out what the SOHA housing team are doing in terms of reducing, reusing & recycling in a drop in session in the Town Hall. 10am – 2pm: ‘Nearly New’ sale in the Town Hall.

Stalls are available for quality preloved and nearly new items – please email your interest to nearlynewwallingford@gmail.com

Talks in the Town Hall:

  • 10am: Low Carbon Hub
  • 11am: South & Vale Waste Team
  • 12.30pm: Community First Oxfordshire
11am – 2pm: Video Screenings with guidance on how to reduce energy usage in the home in the Town Hall 3 – 6pm: Community Book Exchange in the Town Hall. Please bring your unwanted books (max 10 per person please) and swap for a new favourite.

Donations can be dropped off in the lead up to the event to the Town Council office at 8a Castle Street, OX10 8DL during normal opening hours.

Recycling programme display in St Mary’s Church, which has been awarded a Silver Eco Church Award. Open 7pm:

Guidance from Sustainable Wallingford on how to reduce, reuse & recycle, including tips on how to insulate your home and save on energy bills.
3:30pm – 4pm:Join Wallingford Library for a recycling themed Storytime followed by a craft activity making a bird feeder by re-using plastic bottles.

10am – 12.30pm: Wallingford Local Producer’s Market – produce grown or produced within a 30 mile radius of Wallingford

10:30am – 12pm Wallingford Allotments & Garden Society at Centre 70: Members will be on hand to answer any questions about growing fruit & vegetables. People who want to know more about having an allotment, or thinking of starting a veg patch in their garden, can put their names down on the 4th and they will arrange group visits to the allotments to explain how they work – how they can be used to feed the family and feed the soul!
