Christmas Carols & Gift Fair

On Wednesday 14th December, we’ll be gathering around the Christmas tree in the marketplace for carols with local church choirs and the Cholsey Silver Band from 6 – 7pm.
Refreshments will be on sale from the Little Artichoke and new for this year is a Young Trader’s gift fair in the Town Hall from 5 – 7pm, a great opportunity to support small businesses and do a bit of last minute Christmas shopping.
There will be some shops open to do some Christmas shopping too, including:
– Castle Antiques
– Grape Minds
– ASPA Interiors
– The Olde Wallingford Sweet Shop (until 5.30pm)

Christmas Tree & Lights Sponsorship

This year we’ve been able to replace our existing Christmas lights to more energy efficient LED lights, brightening more of the town centre.

A big thank you to Berkeley Homes and St Edward’s Highcroft homes for their sponsorship, which enabled us to do this.

Lights On! Christmas Tree Lights Event

Join us in the marketplace on Friday 2nd December for a community event, where we will be switching on the Christmas Lights at 6pm.

The Mayor will be announcing the beginning of the Live Advent Walk in Wallingford, and the Best Dressed Window Competition, as well as applauding the winner of the Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition.

Inside the Town Hall, there will be a display of all the Winter Wonderland themed artwork submitted as part of the competition, with refreshments available in the undercroft of the Town Hall.

Christmas Card Competition

Help us design the Mayor’s Christmas card this year. Open to all ages, we’re looking for a design which has a winter wonderland theme.

Please drop off your entry to the Town Council office at 8a Castle Street OX10 8DL by 18th November. The winner will be applauded at the Christmas Lights Switch On event on Friday 2nd Dec, where all entries will be on display in the Town Hall.

Christmas Market Sunday 4th Dec

We’re pleased to announce that the Christmas Market will go ahead this year on Sunday 4th December. On this day there will be:

  • Christmas market with independent traders
  • Local shops open for a spot of Christmas shopping
  • Santa Dash starting and finishing in the marketplace
  • 1155’s Santa Sleigh visiting

It’s set to be a great day out.

Community Christmas Tree Decorations

We need your input!

We’d love to decorate the Christmas tree in the marketplace with photo bauble decorations celebrating our community. If you’d like to take part with a photo of your team, organisation, charity, or business, please email tourism@wallingfordtowncouncil.gov.uk with a suitable photo or logo and name to be displayed.

Please make sure everyone pictured in the photograph has given their consent for their image to be used.
